Eclipse brand tanks

Hey all.

I'm getting back into the SW hobby after about 3 years of living
without any fish whatsoever (Did he say living without fish?!
Infathomable!).

I'm thinking of investing in a small 12 gallon Eclipse system because
im pretty limited in funds (damn college), but what worries me is the
filtration system and the lighting. These Eclipse tanks apparently
come with some sort of built in filtration that my fish guy says
should work just fine in supporting fish, anenomes, mushrooms, and
maybe polyps. Like I said, I'm doing this with some spare money I've
got, so I'd rather do frequent water changes than buy any expensive
equipment.

And as far as lighting goes, the fish guy told me he could put a
thirty-something watt PC in the hood, and that it would be enough to
support mushrooms and star polyps, and an anenome maybe, which is the
only life I'm interested in for now. Does this sound like a feasible
tank setup: 2.5 WPG, and an Eclipse filtration system? Will that
support mushrooms and an anenome?

ok first off find a different fish guy :( that bio wheel and anemones are a bad thing
there is a AGA 7g bowfront thats a good deal the hood readily accepts 2 PC bulbs and it
doesnt come with crapy filters, which you will use LR for anyways :) so that you dont have
to do frequent waterchanges :)

it could happen but which anemone a condy sure no problem I have one in 1wpg in a 125, a
bta sorry but I wouldnt do it. :(

lets don't leave out the aptasia, they will grow in most anything, maybe
even fresh water......... :)

probibly just to **** you off i have a few i should try a 10day drip to aclimate it very
very slosly see what happens

Alright, I found the AGA 7 and it looks like I might be able to slip a
32 watt PC bulb in there (which would take care of the lighting
problem), but what kind of filter do you reccommend I incorporate in
the setup(remember I'm on a budget, but if you could think of a
filter/heater combo that would be nice it might be worth the price).

Also, do you think I'd need extra circulation in a 7g besides what the
filter gives out?

the best filter for any reef is lr and a powerhead, but a prizim skimmer sits nicely, also
the smaller heaters will fit int the prizim's bubble reducer area, get the smallest itll
only have to work on a cold morning before the lights kick on

you DONT NEED mechanical filters, chemical filters or bio filters the LR and organisms on
it will do it all.
id recomend a rio 180 there generally not one of the rio's that are considered to be
problematic, and the water movement in a 7g is nice
there priced anywhere from $4 to $30 for the same filter generally $10 is the normal price
and $4 is more like sale prices but dont pay the $30

keep the LR submerged and it wont go out :)

np I ran that tank for a while, i had no issues worth complaining, you can get a prizim
new for $60 and used for <$30
