HI
I have a 30 gallon tank. I bought a fish from a guy and since then my
tank got all screwed. I did a water change but all my fish are dead
except for the two clwon fish. I tested the water and here are the
results.
Ph 7.7
Ammonia 0.3
KH 300mg/l
Nitrate 0mg
What do I need to do to keep my two clown fish from dying and bring my
tank back to normal. The clowns are lying on the bottom no moving
alot.
If someone can give me some guidance, it would be greatly appreciated.

So you had 4+ fish in a 30 gallon? You may have been nearing the overstock
level and the last fish pushed it over the edge, but I'm just guessing on that
one.

I'd do 30% water changes every day or every other day until they go down.

I'd google that one, that may be another characteristic that would indicate
what your problem is....oxygen levels, pH (btw yours is low, should be 8.0-8.3)
etc.

Sounds like one of them died first, contaminated the water and that killed
off the rest. That's the problem with small tanks, no room for error. The
clowns are probably just more hardy than the rest and have thus far
survived. The fact they are laying on the bottom, and I'm guessing they
look like they are gasping for air, sounds like nitrite poisoning or brown
blood disease which comes from high nitrite levels in the water. If your
ammonia is detectable, chances are you also have nitrites. Both are toxic
to the fish and your only hope is to get rid of both. Frequent water
changes and making sure ALL remaining organic material is removed ASAP is
your only hope.
