KILLING ALGAE

To all those who have algae problems whether it is of the red, green,
brown, black, or hairy type, consider this:

BEFORE you got out and purchase phosphase inhibitors like GREEN-X or
ROWAPHOS, get your water tested for phosphate levels. If the
phosphate level is low, then do this simple trick:

TURN OFF YOUR AQUARIUM LIGHTS FOR ONE WEEK. In the process, do a 15%
water change every 2 days, but keep those lights off. All types of
algae (including the brown type) will die I guarantee it !!

By the way, ROWAPHOS really kicks ass ... it totally wipes out any
phosphate in your tank and is actually cheaper than PHOS-sorb or
Green-X ....

Green-X is very good however it's engineered to handle green algae
only whereas ROWAPHOS will inhibit all types of algae growth.

many plants would not survive a week without light and no light conditions
does absolutely nothing to kill BBA.

What can I say ... it totally worked for me. If you have plants, of
course having no lights will help them but for those who have no
plants the lights off technique worked on 2 of my friends including
myself.
