question regarding Ich treatment

Folks;

I've had an outbreak of Ich in my tank, and am using QuickCure. Have dosed
two treatments so far.

The newsgroup-recommended treatment that I know of is to follow the bottle
instructions, dosing daily until the visible spots on the fish disappear,
and then dose every three or four days for two weeks. Dose right before
lights out as lights can break down the active ingredients.

I've read that I should do a 30%-50% water change before each treatment, as
otherwise there'll be an increasing toxicity. My question is: should I do
these water changes before the initial daily treatments too (doesn't say
this on the bottle), or only before the
every-three-or-four-days-for-two-weeks treatments that follow?

Ich according to most experts is caused by stress. remove the source of said
stress and increase temp.to 84 f if the fish can tollerate it for about 5-6
days. this method doesn't use chemicals and is better all around . Simply
reduce the temp. back to normal after all signs of ich are gone and do a couple
of 25% water changes over 3-4 days. I've bought a shoal of 25 card. tetras with
ich (cheap) and tossed them in my community tank and raised the temp. and ended
up with a nice shoal and only lost 2 to ich. It's a very risky thing to do and
I don't recomend it but it shows that heat and a friendly environment can and
will cure ich without chemicals Good luck & regards ART

After the ich has been treated do you turn the temp of the tank back to
"normal" levels i.e: what is was before the ich appeared?

as long as the "normal" level wasn't so low that it is what caused the
problem in the first place. It all depends on the kind of fish. Most fish
though do very well in aquariums with the temps at 80°f constantly, tetras
especially.

I received 6 Clown Loaches with ich. I tried treating the 75 gallon
tank, but only two, the healthiest looking pair improved. I got rid
of the 4 weak and heavilly infested CLs. The two healthy ones
recovered completely even thought they had a few spots after I stopped
treatment. One thing really caught my attention. Not one of the 60
other fish in the tank ever got ich. I think healthy fish do not get
ich.

The vendor that sent me the sick CLs said he was sorry and said when
he checked the stock the whole shipment had ich. The fellow sending
them hadn't looked carefully. A month later I received a new shipment
that were very healthy looking. This happened well over a year ago
and no more ich.

I keep my tanks at 77 - 78 degrees.
