Hi all,

I have had tropical fish for a while now, but thought I would give gold fish
a try. I bought 6 gold fish about a month ago. They are in a 55 gallon
tank. One of them died already. Another one was so pretty when I bought
it, it was only colored orange and white (common goldfish). Now, it has
grown way faster than the other fish, and it is mostly all an ugly brown
color now. Is this some sort of a disease or did his colors change
naturally? The tank temp is about 70 and the water is testing out fine.
The one that died had been sickly since I bought him so I figured he would
die. This weird colored one is swimming and eating just fine. Any ideas?

check the water parameters: pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrates
it sounds like could be ammonia burns. goldfish dont usually turn brown ... they
turn to gold or white. Ingrid

if it's growing miles faster, could it _possibly_ be a very stressed and
unhappy koi?
