urchin attack!

For what it worth. One of our sea urchin's was caught accidentally
skewering part of our small (half dollar size) hammer coral. The side of
the coral that was skewered has withdrawn and each day less of the coral
emerges. I am about declare the hammer dead. Any comments are welcome. I
hate banish the urchins. I assume this is just bad luck. Anybody else had
a similar experience.

What urchin exactly are you talking about ?
It is diadema ? tuxedo urchin ? pencil urchin ? Which one ?
You know, not all urchins are equal and they do not eat the same.
