This is the only thing that I can think of that could be causing my goldfish
to suffer so and to look so bad. I don't know what else to do. I have been
doing frequent water changes, I changed the filter cartridge. I did have to
medicate the tank a while back with some Fungus clear medication. Did I
kill my good bacteria by doing that? What else should I be doing? All my
fishies are now all turning an ugly brown color and I think they are getting
very sick. They are feeding and swimming ok though. Please help me if you
can. I have no experience with gold fish, only with tropicals.

Thanks, Sarah

Sarah, how many fish do you have, what size is the tank. How much water do you
change, how often and what are your ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and PH levels.
Did you change all of the filters? If so you've removed your good bio-bugs.

dont you have any of the tests? do 50% water changes or more every day. Add 1
teaspoon of salt per 5 gallons. Use rock salt with no additives. you must get the
water test kits and keep ammonia and nitrites almost undetectable. in addition, you
need 10 gallons water per fish, and at least one air stone blowing air into the tank
per 20 gallons. 2 is better. Ingrid
