Can anyone reccomend some ways of bringing my PH levels up safely.
My Levels have dropped from 8.2 to 7.8
What is a likely cause of PH levels dropping when they have been fine
all along.
The tank is about 10 months old and I use a double biowheel and a PS
and do regular water changes of 10gal. on my 65g tank every 2 weeks.
(usually a bit earlier).

I forgot to add that I have 7 small fish in the 65g with about 80lbs LR
and about 8 different types of mushrooms and polups. I also had done a
water change approx. 10 days ago. (10gal).
Everything was fine 10 days ago...Could something as small as a hermit
crab dying spike my test results.?

If I remember correctly from reading: Ph Levels change through out the day.
Aquarium water could drop at the end of the night and peak just before
lights out. These natural Ph cycles are gradual and do not stress the
livestock.
make sure when you check you levels, you do it at the same time i.e. if
you check you levels weekly always at the same time of day. It's also a
good idea to keep a journal, record your results for the various chemicals
time, date ect.

The dead Hermit Crab should not affect the Ph levels. It can increase your
ammonia, make sure you remove any dying or dead fish right away.

Good Luck

whats your alk/calc levels is your ph still low ?? what salt did you use? did you change
brands or bags ?? what time did you test them, its kinda important if the 8.2 to 7.8 is
when ph should be lowest then its only a small problem if its when it should be its
highest then the problem is a little more serious :)
