I recently converted my 38 gallom tank to salt water.
I am now looking to ugrade the lighting.

The tank is 36" wide.
Currently has a perfecto hood with single bulb.

I would like to have some live rock, maybe some creatures in the
future.

Will I need to replace the entire hood? (I think I do)

I have seen some 3 bulb fixtures, I doubt these will fit my hood.
So I would then need glass tops?

The glass tops on my 75gal, seemed to come apart. The glue holding
the hinge together.
Are they all like this?

Any suggestions on what I should be looking at?

Could I just convert a shop light for the tank? I have a shop light.

Pete, I have 3 bulbs over my 29g, and technically you could fit 4 if you really
wanted them.

I'd suggest you look into Power Compacts, which you can find at HelloLights.
They sell a 24" retro kit that cost $199 last December, and stagger the light
bulbs a little to spread it out over the 36" you have. (Mine is 30, and I run
them in formation.)

quite easily Marc, I run 4x65 on my 29 and could even go with 6 with no
problem at all.
but the 4 seam to do a great job as all corals are doing great and growing
like weeds.
the red shrooms I got from you are budding like crazy.
