Over the next couple of months I will be moving my 3 fantails to a huge 60
gal (UK gals) tank. I'd quite like to add something else nit not really more
fantails - got no room for a bigger tank when THEY grow. Are there any
smallish or slow growing fish I can mix with goldies?

no, nothing that wont either go after GF or become food for GF.
GF tanks work best in "zen" mode. turn the smaller tank into a planted fantasy land
with white cloud fish. Ingrid

There are goldfish called Siamese Dolls that are about an inch long and
they will not grow any bigger. They stay "doll-sized."

well I had some black "dolls" in my pond for a while, they never got more than 3
inches or so. they looked like tiny moors. they actually survived a couple years in
the pond over winter. Ingrid

Wow I did not know they exist! 3 inches! What are the recommendations
for a dwarf moor? Tank Size and such? Temp and plants gravel/sand, Like
a reg goldfish? I realize your stand on gravel and sand , is it the same
for the dwarf moors?
Also, does the food requirements match to. Can it get caught and cause a
blockage like the larger fancy and moors?

Here is a picture of siamese dolls in a tank that I found on Google:
http://www.adamgottschalk.net/siamdolls.html
I was in a LFS a couple weeks ago and there was a tank with about 5
little Siamese dolls available. I didn't buy any because I was just
window shopping. But if you're looking for Siamese dolls, you could
always ask a LFS in your area if they could order some in, or you could
check some online sellers and see if they have any available. Basically,
I think they are dwarf goldfish.

A Yahoo search came up with this website that says they sell Siamese
doll goldfish in albino, black, or calico:

I didnt have them in my tanks very long before they went out into the pond. I think
I had 6 or 7. then the whole pond got ich and I pulled em all out to clean them up
kept them over winter inside then outside again in spring. they did have same
conditions as other GF. the problem is, I dont know how anyone would tell difference
between "dolls" and plain old small moors. except "dolls" come in white as well as
black. somebody said they are some specific genetic cross but arent too long lived.
dont know. lost the whole pond the winter the greenhouse collapsed. Ingrid

To bad the pond was a loss, I wonder how the breeding and fry are like?
Maybe someone will start breeding the "Dolls"

thats the thing, somehow I remember people saying they were a hybrid and wouldnt
breed true when crossed with each other. I really cant swear to that however. this
was a conversation a long time ago. good person to ask about this is Al Foster, he
really knows the genetics of GF.

If it is anything like Endler's Livebearers and Guppies breeding, the
fry have a high deformaty and sterlie rate. At least thats why I read
from people who tried.
And people would think they can cram them in tanks just because. It it
were me I would have 1 or 2 in a 40 and let them live in peace.
