Hi,
I recently bought a 55gal tank with about 50# of LR and a 3" DSB. It
came with all equipment, which includes skimmer, heater, magnum canister
filter, powerheads, and air pumps. All testing supplies and a whole box of
dosing supplies. The hood has dual 55W PC bulbs. Well the grand total for
this whole setup came to $100. I've been told by the lfs that this setup is
around $700 in value at least. This was too good a deal to pass up, so I
bought it.

The problem is I'm living with my mom at the moment while I remodel my
house. It will probably take me at least another month to finish up this
project, and in the mean time I have no way of really taking care of a tank.
The fish that was in there I sold to the lfs the day I bought the tank,
since I didn't want to take the chance of killing any of these beautiful
fish. (This is my first sw tank, and I have no experience with them)
However the clean up crew consisting of snails and hermit crabs are still in
the tank.

The tank is set up and running at my mom's house in a corner of the
computer room. I have little room to even get to the tank, but I want to
keep the cleanup crew alive. Is there any special things that I need to do
for them? Food? Also the main reason the tank is still going is I want to
keep my LR alive. With no fish in there (read: no ammonia being produced by
fish waste) will the LR be ok?

If there is any other worries that I should have, please make me aware
of them. Thanks -Chris

Cleanup Crew / janitoral crew simply a scanvenger. It eat anything they can
find. If there are some die-off, it will feed on those. You can also add
cocktail shrimp or add dry-seaweed from your local supermarket. Since your
tank is temperally set at your mom house, you still can cycle the tank there
and have it drain later when time to move. Continue the cycle at the new
location when ready. Your tank cycle should be shorter. Run your skimmer
while cycling.
