Hello
Im here in the UK and i am setting up a DSB in an external tank.
I read alot about Southdown playsand and likewise but im assuming that there
trade names and obviously we dont have the same over here..
Wickes and The Early learning centre do playsand for childrens sandpits, is
that what you use?
Has anyone in the UK set up a DSB using this sort of material and could you
tell me what you used
Thanks in advance

Southdown is aragonite sand. It will dissolve in vinegar (or at least fizzle a
tad), so you can test various samples, or see who sells aragonite sand in your
area.

Hello Stuart
What Sand did you buy, was it those bags of Aragonite or something else?
Hows it all working for you?
What size sand bed have you got (length width and depth)?
Is it in a seperate tank or in your display tank?
What creatures did you get for it?
W
PS Sorry so many questions

Hello Wobble
Its a new tank, I got the sand from my local supplier and its a fine
sand but nothing like play sand which is smooth. Sorry not sure of
the name but its the only one that I have ever seen for sale.
I got a 90 gallon tank and I got about 3" on the whole of the base, I
pointed my powerheads down and it gave it a great wave effect on the
sand before I added my Live Rock which I got from Fantasea.
At the moment its still cycling but unfortunitly I am going to have to
empty it because I am adding a sump to it which needs pipes attaching
so I gotta drill it.
Cheers
Stuart
