Light over large refugium?

My current setup is a 98 gallon tank, 40 gallon sump, and 30 gallon
rubbermaid container as a refugium (sitting above the tank - gravity fed
back into the tank). I'm planning to add a 75 gallon refugium, also
above the tank. (I haven't decided if it's going to replace the current
'fuge, or just flow into it before going into the tank.) How much light
should a large 'fuge like that have?

Nice setup, im not the best on lighting, but wouldnt it be easier to get rid
of the rubbermaid after you add the 75, makes less of a chance of losing the
system due to plumbing probs. also whats the sump do if its not a fuge or a
filter? seems the sump shoudl be one or the other otherwise whats the use?

Thanks. The sump contains the skimmer, calcium reactor, heaters,
charcoal (when I use it), pump that supplies the chiller and the return
from the chiller, float switch that controls the top-off pump, and the
return pump which returns most of the water straight to the main tank
with some going to the current 'fuge. I'll probably add a second pump
to supply the new 'fuge and leave the current return pump in place. The
one thing I really like about how I have it set up is that I can put
whatever I want in that back area. I'm not nearly as limited on space
as are people who have to fit everything under the tank.

wow, sounds great, like you have good uses for it. god idea. another
thing, what about your fuge return pump, are you sure your getting enough
return out of your fuge to resupply your tank with critters?

For refugium lighting, you can use any lighting to grow algae / plant etc.

As CapFusion stated, nearly any light will be adequete for growing
caulerpa etc. A compact flourescent bulb would be fine, say, 100w
output.

Actually, my impression is that it's better to have a low flow rate so
that most of the critters end up staying in the refugium so that they
can multiply in there. Once their population is high, the tank will get
substantial input from the 'fuge.

I'm currently planning to use a 700 gph pump (MAG 7) to supply the new
'fuge. My current 'fuge only gets about 200 gph.

Thanks Billy and CapFusion. I have a 110 watt pc fixture from a planted
freshwater tank that I'm not using anymore. I'll just use that.
