There's a great one at www.cichlidfish.com. Very active and
informative, although the most active forums there are Oscar-specific.

The ACA site has been around for a while, it's just not real active.
That could change if they get some dedicated members. Even though I disagree
with some of the recommendations of the Cichlid-Forum, there are a lot of
experienced people there who for the most part give out good advice. The
admins are great people and have done a lot of work on the site.
I agree completely about books being the best source of information,
provided you get the right authors.
For a general all around book, "Enjoying Cichlids 2nd edition - Edited by Ad
Konings" is awesome.
For just keeping Tanganyikans, "Tanganyika Cichlids, Back to Nature - by Ad
Konings",
for Malawi cichlids "Malawi Cichlids, Back to Nature - by Ad Konings",
for West African Cichlids "The Cichlids Fishes of Western Africa - by Anton
Lamboj". This book is just recently availalbe begining of this year in
english. An excellent source of information.
The "Aquaria Atlas by Dr Rudiger Riehl and Hans A Baensch" is also a good
generla info source.

That's just some of my favorites. ;-)

The ACA forum couldn't have been up for more than a few months or so. It
would be great if there were more folks on that site, although there are
some informed folks there as well. The books you recommended are all quite
good. I've been trying to get Anton's book for awhile but it's hard to come
by. If you source out a place with that one, send me an email.

If you refer to the "Cookie Cutter" setups given on cichlid-forum, trust
me, many people in the actual forum section have commented on how insane
some of those are. Supposedly they're going to update, but haven't seen
any action on that at all. So I would definately view their article
section with a critical eye. The forum section does have some good people
for various types of cichlids like Tanganyikans, but again it's always
good to look for multiple opinions on multiple sites before doing much.
And of course when it comes to living creatures, there's always individual
personalities, particularly when it comes to stocking, that can make even
a supposedly "good match" go horribly awry.

Thanks for the link, however, Ordering from the UK, where I once lived is
not really a viable option since I'm in Canada. Plus their price equates to
approximately $100 which in my opinion is highly over priced. I know that
this book is pricey anyhow, upwards of $75 in Canada when it's available.
But paying 33% more is just a BIT out of my price range. If you find
another link in the US or Canada please let me know. Thanks.
