behaviour question

does the temperature effectt he way a oscar acts?...becuase as ya
knowfrom my other post....ive had problems wit my heaters and i
upgraded to a higher wattage and it has kept the water at a steady
82...(jus seening if it works at a higher temps since the cold
mornings) but since i got the new heaters and started feeding them
treats like live crickets and blood worms....one has been extra
aggresive towards the other.....its been a month and some days since
ive got them and they are 2.5 inches long both tiger oscars. LIke i
would come home from school....and one of the fish would have skin or
flesh or scales hanging and nipped anal and pectoral fins...but acts
normal...they are in a 55 wit two aquatech330s....the one that gets
bite up stil stays around the one who bites...but the one who bites jus
chases it to the other side of the tank...wonder if this aggresion had
to do wit temp, new food, and them just being oscars growing up..thanks
in advance for all yur input...

p.s. amm and nitrIte=0 nitrAte=10 ph 7.6 temp 81(going down to 79)
water chagned and vacuum every friday..and whenever theres food
build up.....

I use salt on a continuse basis. One tablespoon for every ten gallons.
Keep in mind, once the salt is added, it doesnot evaporate out of the
tank. So only add it once, then when you do water changes, ie if you
clean and remove ten gallons of water. You can add one table spoon
back. If ten gallons evaporate, do not add salt when you top up the
tank. As for the melefix, good to have on hand, but don't use it unless
there are signs of inffection ect. Also if you do have to use any
medicine, remove any charcoal from your filters. Charcoal will remove
any meds from the water.

Temp of the water affects how the fish act. O's prefer a warm
enviroment. if the water is to cool, it opens them up to all sorts of
problems, and of course they will not act normally. However the range
you have had have them in is normal. The nipping, fighting ect, is a
normal behaviour at their present size. I think they are trying to
establish dominace. So I would not be overly concerned. Keep and eye on
the fish, and make sure the "scares" are healing. Mine have had some
pretty nasty ones happen, but they have all healed quickly.

thanks ill start putting salt in the tank...aquarium salt..and pick up
some melafix...
