I recently purchased five red phantom tetras. I added them to an
established 10-gallon tank. They are rather small at this time and did
not want to add them to the 55 gallon aquarium with larger bleeding
heart tetras, yo-yo loaches, pl*co & Chinese algae eaters until they
are a bit larger.
Are these fish aggressive, fin nippers? Are they fragile fish?
They looked healthy when I bought them but one has died and the others
have a case of ick. I have treated the tank with Jungle Labs "Ick
Guard II" it "is specially formulated to clear Ick fast on scale-less,
small or weak fish. Also guards against secondary infections as a
result of wounds left by the ick parasite." But it doesn't seem to be
getting any better (and yes I have removed the activated carbon from my
filter). Has anyone had experience using this product? Is there
something better I should be using with these fish?
As I stated the tank (10 gallon) is cycled: ammonia 0, nitrite 0,
nitrate approx 10, ph 7.5 and kh 3.
Sorry for the length of this post. Any comments or information is
certainly appreciated. Thank you.
