Hi, guys
I may move my 75G tank in the near future. (Maybe, within an hour drive)
However, I cannot bring all water in the tank. Currently, my tank has two
percular clowns, three damsels, one blue tang and several corals. Also,
there are 80 lb LS and 30 lb LR and 50 lb of Carb rib bone rock.
Does anyone have good idea to move it without bring all water?

Thanks,
SW

Why can't you bring the water? If you buy some brand new
trashcans for $7 each at Home Depot, you could bring water
in 3 or 4 trashcans. These would also be great to carry the
LR and livestock, and not worry about splashing nor items
being exposed to air.

Your other option is to make water in advance at the new
location so you can add it when you arrive.

SW (Sal****er?),

You'd be surprised at how much water it takes to move the fish and corals
laid out one layer deep in some buckets or styrofoam (BTW, at Stanford
look to the Recycling Center or the loading dock of Biostores in the
basement of Gilbert Biology for all your styrofoam cooler needs!). But it
would make a good opportunity to do a large water change with the move.
I'd suggest setting up a bucket or cooler(s) of sal****er at the
destination, aerated and brought to temperature with your spare heater (of
course you have one), then break down the tank down to the sand, with the
fish, rock and corals in coolers and buckets. Promise your buds a beer if
they help you move the tank with sand to your truck, move it all, set it
all up, add the pre-made water, start skimming and then don't look at it
for a day. Once the dust settles, re-arrange to your and the critter's
liking. I moved my 35g hex a half-hour away with no issues; there is
enough disruption that I think the critters just go into "safe mode" and
can withstand a lot more than they usually would. There are articles on
moving tanks at www.reefs.com.

Much luck,
Mike
