View Full Version : Problems feeding Fire Eel
December 14th 04, 03:04 PM
Hi,
I have a problem. Whenever I try to feed my fire eel, my 3 oscars
constantly snatch up the food before the eel gets a chance. I tried
holding food in my hand for him, but the Oscars constantly snatch up
the food. They manage to take his food even with the aquarium lights
off.
Currently, I am trying to feed him frozen blood worms & shrimp. Any
suggestions on how to feed him and not the oscars?

the only option is to get rid of the oscars ;oO. The eel is much too timid
to be with such aggessive fish. It should be kept with much smaller more
peaceful fish. How big is are the oscars and eel? and what size tank?

Well your only trying to feed him some of the Oscars favorite foods.....
I had the same trouble feeding my pleco's. My O's eat everything I put
in the tank. Since your eel's a bit diffrent than what I used for my
"final" soloution, I will tell you how I fed them before. First, feed
your O's untill they are ready to burst. Try and keep them at one end,
and the eel at the other, You can get the O's to move easier I suspect.
Once the O's have feasted. Then try feeding the eel. It took me a while
to get it to work out.
Anyhow one sugjestion for you to try.
