View Full Version : Overflow Screen ?

My tank has an overflow with teeth with gaps between that the water
flows through (as most do). The gaps are about 1/4" wide, plenty big
enough for (just as examples) two-spot goby, yellow watchman, neon goby,
etc... to fit through. I've had to fish these guys out of my overflow
or sump a couple times now. How does one prevent this? Seems to me
that a mesh screen would clog, which could be ... bad... :-)
Thanks.

I use craft screening, it's made of plastic, and available at craft
and fabric stores for a dollar or two for a large sheet. It will clog
faster than the teeth, so it would need to be checked and cleaned
regularily. It's useful for many things, I also use it to cover
powerhead intakes and such to keep critters out.

Thanks for the advice. I went to Jo-Anns, and got some plastic screen
(plstic grid with 3/16" spacing). That should do the trick nicely.
