I am running a 50 gallon tank with 13 African Cichlids. I have two filters
attached to it, a eheim 2222 pro and eheim 2213. I've decided to chuck the
2213 and get the 2227 wet dry. I figure I'd have less maintenance and still
have both biological and mechancial filtering. The problem is that Eheim's
filter material is about a third pricier than Seachems matrix. They both
claim to do the same thing and look very similar. Will I be making a mistake
by going with the Seachem. I know Eheim recommends their own be used
exclusively, but I figure they're just saying that so you buy their product.

:D I would agree with you. It would be worth trying it, worse case, you
spend a couple extra dollars. I can't see a problem in regards to the
biological filtering, so would be worth trying. Then post back the
results, might save a lot of ppl some money. :D
