Just wanted to say thanks to the poster who suggested "traction sand"
for coarse sand/small gravel.
Home Depot calls it "tube sand" but it's the same thing. Sixty pounds
for $2.49 or so. A local auto store wanted $4.99. Either way it's not
expensive.
I took a large kitchen strainer/sieve, the wire mesh with a handle
dohickey, and sieved out the really fine stuff. Reduced about 30 pounds
to about 20 pounds. Then I washed it.
What's left is best described as very fine gravel with the occasional
larger piece.
I'd say the smallest pieces are about the size of a pinhead and the
largest about like ordinary aquarium gravel.
Looks like it's going to work out fine. Thanks for the suggestion.
