How do you remove "unwanted's"

How do you go about removing unwanted inverts', coral, etc. from the tank?
Ive read several posts concerning the removal of unwanted starfish,
excessively growing corals, etc., but have not heard how to actually go
about removing them. Also, what do you do with them once they have been
removed? If it is a good coral, but it is desired to keep them at a small
size, can segments be sold back to a LFS? Thanks for any help.

Corals are fragged or trimmed back similar to gardening.
Some things can be taken to the LFS for store credit, and
other things are truly unwanted and go in the trash or down
the drain.
