View Full Version : Reef Conventions?

Hi all,
I've been trying to do a google search on the aforementioned, or general
aquaria convention, but have had no avail.
I'm sure there must be a convention here in the USA or Canada that
sports the latest in all things reef and/or aquariums, et cetera.
I appreciate (as always) the feedback.
Regards,
Rich

"'Who knows for certain? Who shall here declare it?
Whence was it born, whence came creation?
The gods are later than this world's formation;
Who then can know the origins of the world?
None knows whence creation arose;
And whether he has or has not made it;
He who surveys it from the lofty skies.
Only he knows-or perhaps he knows not.'
And this is tempered by another, perhaps still greater:
That men are not the dreams of the gods but that the gods are the
dreams of men."

Yes, as Billy pointed out, there is one every year. MASNA
is the national organization that determines what club will
host MACNA each year. This year it will be in Washington DC.
http://www.masna.org has a list of all the club in the
nation, and information about what is being down in the
industry.
The link Billy gave you is for this year. There is a link
like that every year. MACNA XIV was hosted by my club
(DFWMAS) in Ft Worth a few years ago. I've not missed a
MACNA since then, as it is awesome. Here is some
information about this year's conference:

And why you should attend:

And my MACNA XV page:

I'll be there this year. Will you? ;)

Got it. Ronald Reagan is 5 minutes away, DCA is 30 miles. Figures
that none of the cheap flights come into RR. <g>

If you pack light you can get there from DCA via public transit.
There's a shuttle bus that will take you to the nearest metro, which
you can take to crystal city.
I'm a native of the area, so I plan on just stopping by my parents
house for the weekend.

d'oh!
Thats what I meant...
/me resigns her status as a washingtonian.
Well, you can get there from either DCA (National/Reagan... i can't
believe they renamed it after Reagan) or IAD (dulles), but I was
referring to Dulles earlier even though I screwed up the letters. You
take a shuttle to West Falls Church metro, and then the metro to the
convention.
Reagan/National has its own metro station.
If it's a difference of $50, you might wanna just save some time and
hassle and fly into National, but if it's $100 cheaper to go to dulles
and you're not taking tons of heavy baggage, the Metro is not difficult
to understand, and isn't too bad with baggage. I took it to school
carrying a backpack, trumpet, and various and sundry other items to
school for years.

My thinking is that WAMAS (the club hosting) will have all
the details worked out for us, including shuttle service to
and from the hotel to the airport. I'll do a little digging
and see what I can come up with.
I want to stay at the hotel the conference is at, and have
smooth travel arrangements.
