I have two Florida originated sea cucumbers, similar to "tiger tail"
but all dirty-yellow color. They are happy in my tank, sucking the
dirty sand and spitting it out on the other end, cleaned...
Recently I noticed it was changing color to worse, more dirty yellow,
almost beige, gray. I was afraid it is not feeling good - knowing
how bad they can be when they die I was very worried it will wipe out
my tank... Today I noticed it become very vibrant yellow, its "skin"
looked like freshly born... Near its end, on the sand I have found
very thin beige layer of thin skin-like gue, moved by the water waves.
It almost looked like the seacucumber molted its cuticle but I have
never read about echinoderms doing that... Do sea cucumbers really molt ?

Do sea cucumbers really molt ?

Yep. Their skin gets really dirty and then they shed it. I have one that
I've had for a year and it's done this about every 2-3 months.

Have you noticed when during day your guy did it?
Was it at night or during daylight hours?

I haven't noticed any pattern to it really.
