and how does it affect my interpretation of test results, particularly
during cycling, (if at all).
Thanxx

Tests for ammonia usually measure total ammonia (NH3 Ammonia plus NH4
Ammonium).

With the help of the Kribs site( and a few others) I kinda understand the
NH3/NH4+ terms that I was asking about. Thanxx. However now I'm just
interested to understand? the correlation. As I understand it the
percentage of NH3 in a sample reading is lower in lower pH and temps.
However the ppm of NH3 required to be *toxic* is also lower at lower pH and
temps. Without having to figure out all the charts and percentages does
anyone have some notable facts about this correlation. One of course is
apparently still the axiom that the higher the temperature and pH the more
toxic it is. However, I would be interested to know that (made up
example) - "4x the reading of NH3/NH4 is only twice as toxic at 10 degrees
higher temp, or 1 full pH point." To be relevant for me I could only
imagine driving my pH down to about 7 and my pond has been as high as 8.5
before it balanced.
Thanxx for the indulgence.
