View Full Version : RedSea Berlin Protein skimmer problem

Hi, guys
I set up RedSea Berlin protein skimmer with Rio HF20(1200GPH) yesterday. A
minute ago, I found serious problem. So many bubbles are generated without
protein and salt water overflows over a cup.
Is it due to high flow of the pump? - Recommended flow rate is 800 ~900 GPH.
Thanks,
Sungwon

time?

how long has it been since using a PS? there could just be a lot of 'stuff'
in the water. let it sit running for a couple of days, and route the return
back into the sump. you could also raise up the cup a little, which makes
the riser higher, which makes it empty less water and more foam.

I have the same set up. It works perfectly -- so I'm not sure what your
problem is. Mine did take a day or two to settle down.
Re the flow -- the pressure drop across the venturi is very high and you
will find that the actual flow will only be about 600 litres per hour
(approx 150 US galls / hr). This is fine.
