hi, i have a very small tank 20 x 20cm and just six neon tetras in it. the
pump is one of the smallest and just agitates the top surface of the water.

however even pointing the nozzle at the surface it seems to set up a tide of
movement in the water that keeps the fish swimming against it. there are
pieces of slate on the bottom that i think they could get out of the
current, but they choose to just keep swimming to stay in the same place.

should i reduce the current they are in, or do fish just not mind?

many thanks john west

Tetras love currents. They like to swim against flows. All 24 of my Tetras
(4 different species) love swimming against the filter outflow - just love
it - it's their natural thing.

"just" 6 neons may be too many too for that tiny tank. 2 would be better. I
hope you take care of the water by changing it every week or so?
