softener

Can anyone suggest a way to soften my water? Just had it tested and
seemingly my water is too hard to introduce fish yet. My pH, flouride etc is
all find but my water is needing softened?

How do you know its too hard?

The shop tested it along with my pH etc. Seemingly you are supposed to have
3 strips of red I only had 1 so its too hard

55dH, Crickey, you can almost walk on it then :-)

But you're right, GF are quite hardy and can live in pretty much any water
al slong as it's liquid and relatively clean, so hard water should not a
problem either. One could slowly introduce them to the hard water by doing
water changes with the hard water instead of the soft water they're in at
the moment, do 3 to 4 25 to 30% water changes and and they should have
adopted just fine...
