View Full Version : Lids?

I bought a new stand. It is a Sedona wooden stand, with a wooden hood.

There is a picture of it here:

Because of the wooden hood, the lid I have is now a pain, because it's hard
to lfft the flap to feed them. Plus, if I'm going to try plants again (still
reading...) I'm going to need another light, and there's no room with my
existing hood.

So, what do you guys use on the top of your aquariums? I have a Penguin
filter, so I can't just lay glass over the top.

My aquarium hood is very similar, but it has another set of hinges in
the middle of the lid so only half of the flap needs to be lifted.

What lighting do you have in there now? I went with some T5 high output
tubes to make up for the lack of space.

That wooden hood is actually just a cover over the tank topper (lid? Hood?)
I have now. There is a black cover on the tank under that, which has a
hinged lid that opens for feeding. It's hard to open it, but I can fix it
with a stick-on handle.

I think I'll post a picture of it, because there's another issue with it
too. But if I can salvage it without spending much money....

Thanks - I'll look those up. Might solve my problem.

I just have a single tube light. I bought the kind that plants do good in,
but it isn't marked with wattage and I don't remember what wattage it is.
But it could look brighter - that I'm sure of.

I have a similar problem with a 75 gallon tank, but I have access to
the power filter and I drop the food into the water flowing out of the
filter into the tank. Beats moving one of the light hoods and has an
extra benefit that the flakes get widely distributed.

You know, that is such an obvious answer I cannot believe I didn't think of
it.

Angie, feeling stupid.
