I have an over flow box for my w/d filter so is it kind of dumb to buy
the overflow box for the Remora Pro skimmer too? Plus it really doesn't
fit right with the Mag 3 pump, the pump intake is right up against the
side of the over flow box...

The overflow box for the Pro is to trap bubbles and
for carbon/phos bag in the output side. I recommend it.
If you are looking into the tank/down on the Pro the intake for the
Mag should be to the left. There is a deep indent to the left of the
Pro overflow box. There is plenty of room for the intake side of the pump..

But I had to sand down the removable base for the Mag to get the pump AND
the base to fit snug into the box. Lay the base flat on a piece of W/D
sand paper
and sand til it fits. If I remember it was about an 1/8th of an inch
needed to remove.
It takes a little while to sand down from the large surface area of the
removable base.
