You can't keep Koi in a tank unless it is
a) the size of a small swimming pool
and
b) has huge filters...
at least not as far as i know. Also they are big, fast fish and wouldn't
mix with fancy goldfish too well.

Ron,
Koi should NEVER be kept in a tank....the reason is that they can grow up to
(and possibly over) 1 metre in length...

Do you have an aquarium the size of a large room (top to bottom and sides)
If not, then you shouldnt keep koi in there.
And remember, goldfish need at least 10 gallons of water per fish as they
produce HUGE ammounts of ammonia.

Apart from what the rest said, it might not be a good idea to place both
fast
swimmers with slow swimmers. When it comes to feeding time, the slower
fishes would definitely not be as fast to the food and may miss out on
feeding.

Indeed, and sometimes even bigger than that!!! I've read horror stories of
people keeping
Koi in 10 gallon tanks! Disgusting!

Does anyone here dare to stick their hand into an enclosure containing a hungry 1 metre Koi? :)

My Red Cap Oranda is significantly faster than my Orange Fantail at getting and eating food.
The Oranda is very good at picking up food floating on the surface.
The Fantail seems to wait for somthing to fall from the surface.

I ended up buying flakes for the Oranda and crumbs for the Fantail.

ahhh...i wouldnt if the koi didn't know me....but if they were mine, then
probably yes because they'd be used to feeding out of my hand

I hope you soak the food before feeding it to them...otherwise it can cause
problems later on
