A few days ago I noticed my fish darting around whenever i went near the
tank...

Then i noticed that the fishs' abdomens are swollen ...they are still
eating...but occasionally hide together. I tested the water and all params
are ok.
I added 1 gram of salt per litre to the tank and it really perked them up. I
also added carbon to the filter

Last night I put a dark sheet over the tank to calm them down...Seems to be
working well. The fish aren't darting around much at all. It is only just
one or 2 fish, but a second after they are begging for food again.

A few of them still have swollen bellies, should i be worried about this or
is it just eggs/gas/constipation?

How much have you been feeding them? Goldfish will eat 'till they explode if
you aren't careful ;)

It could have something to do with me taking some decorations out...because
they were sharp and had to be fixed....

Im not feeding them much at all...but i have stopped feeding for 2 days t
see how it goes

ive added carbon to the filter.
the dark sheet is only covering 1/2 of the tank now...and occasionally the
fish go out "into the light"

can they sense stress from humans.....because i have been a
little..stressed.

My thought is maybe spawning behavior? Not many goldfish keepers here
so I'm crossposting this to rec.aquaria.freshwater.goldfish where you
might get more help.

Mine do it all the time. Everytime I pass the tank, the come to the side
and follow my movements and wag their rear ends at me. Just like the dog.
