Ok since it looks like it's a crayfish, can I at least move it into my 5
gallon tank? It keeps eating my poor plants.

I had a crayfish once. I called him demon spawn. They are evil. The
stupid thing will destroy any living thing in the aquarium that it can
catch - plant, animal, it doesn't matter. If he can catch it he can
destroy it. Get it away from your plants as fast as possible if you
want to salvage them. And if you keep him with fish make sure they
aren't slow moving and don't sleep on the bottom of the tank.

Does it have any other animals in it? If there are any fish he will catch
them and eat them also. They do not make good pets at all.

Well, this is a very opinionated statement. My son had two for pets in
a "Crawdad only" tank. It was very rewarding to watch them grow, molt,
and eventually spawn. He sold the juvies back to the pet store.

"Cichlids don't make good pets" makes about as much sense. Try putting
a Jack Dempsy into planted neon tetra tank. Fish salad anyone?

It's not just opinionated, it's plain wrong.

Sorry I offended you, your right it is opinionated. And I was correct. But
I really only meant if there were other fish in the tank, that is why I
asked if it had other animals. If it is a crawfish only tank then there
would be no problems. But if there are small fish they would be caught and
killed.

Not offended, no problemo. I was probably more set off by the use of
the word "good" more than anything else. In my opinion, "good" and
"bad" are the most improperly used words in our language. Case in
point; you meant to say a crawfish isn't an appropriate companion for
fish, it will eat them. This is very true. That's why we ended up with
a crawdad only tank! The crawdad wasn't being bad, however. He was
just eating.

I meant to say they don't make good "community" pets. One word can
certainly mess up the works.
