View Full Version : Compact Fluorescent Lighting Question

Yesterday, the lights worked, but now two of them (sharing a ballast) glow,
but don't really start. Any advice? Just time to replace bulbs?

It sounds like you have a bad bulb or ballast. Before you just buy 2
new bulbs, you could try switching the working bulbs with the non
working ones and see if they still work. THat way you will know it is
the bulbs and not the ballast.

when bulbs get weak they need more power to agitate the gas to light them ,
sounds like a bulbs

Are the bulbs open to the tank. Your problem could be due to salt creep.
Unplug the ballast and remove all the bulbs. Clean the bulbs, reflectors and
the pins well. Be sure every thing is clean and dry before reassembly.
