Hi
Is there any type of pleco/cory that would be safe with and from
goldfish...something that is 10-15 cm at the biggest...to suit a heated ph7
198 gallon tank?
I need something different in there....

Just about any pl*co will be fine with goldfish with the exception of
some of the more expensive ones that might not tolerate cold
temperatures as well. You say your tank is heated - be careful with
that. You can do it (I have) but if you don't have a good source of
aeration high temps will stress your goldfish, they like 68 F temps or
thereabouts.
A common pl*co will get bigger than 10-15 cm but not for a while - they
grow fast up to about 6" and then slow down quite a bit so you might
consider just getting one of them with the idea that in a little over a
year or two you might need to either get a bigger tank or trade him in
to the LFS for store credit. If you don't want to do that then a Clown
Pl*co will work well since they don't get very big and are fairly
cheap. There are many other types of small pl*cos and most will do well
under your conditions.
Go to your LFS and any pl*co that is less than $20 will probably do
just fine - anything that costs more than that will probably need
special considerations.

I don't think that's right. Plecos will suck the slime on GF.

Dan got the plecos for you.
Any tropical cory is fine above 72F. C. barbatus is good below 68F.
Yo-yo loaches, dojos, and skunk loaches are in your size range as well.
Clown loaches are a lot of fun to keep, but will gradually grow to 15
cm and possibly above. Again, dojos like cooler water but will tolerate
tropical temps.

what about weather loach? nice fish, though not quite a pleco or a cory,
they're definitely bottom dwellers, and they have huge entertainment
value - for me, anyway.

PLecos will only go after fish if they are not being fed well enough. Also
they usually only do this when bigger.

I kept a pl*co with a lionhead and two black moors and never had a
single problem. They liked eachother quite a bit. While it may be
possible for a pl*co to go after a goldfish I don't think it would
happen unless the conditions in the tank were much less than optimal.
In fact I've never seen a pl*co go after any fish. The most aggressive
thing my pl*co has ever done is nose other fish out of the way when
they were trying to steal his algae wafer.

I really love clown loaches, and have seen them alone with different
fish...but was advised that its not a good idea to put a clown loach in
there....they are fantastic fish!!!!
Ho about a banded peckoltia, or a zebra ota or zebra plecostomas??...They
only grow up to about 15cm..
If not....can anyone here give me a go-ahead for a clown loach...funny
buggers they are :-)
tank is @20-22, no substrate, plenty of hiding spots, really soft water, ph7
Oh...and 14 goldfish ( don't worry, they have 53L each to themselves ) :-)

20 degrees is too cold for clowns or any of the small plecos, and even 22
is a bare minimum. You said heated in your original post and I assumed
tropical - I should have asked. That temperature range is good for
dojos (weather loaches), Corydoras barbatus, or a common pleco. The
rest of the fish we're talking about are tropicals and prefer a minimum
of 24 degrees. Common plecos shouldn't attack other fish unless they're
badly underfed. Unfortunately, many people do underfeed plecos. You
must put a piece of bogwood in the tank to keep any sort of pleco, and
feed a mix of algae wafers, slices of zucchini, cucumber, or lettuce on
a clip. In a 198 gallon tank, you could grow a pleco out to adult size
and it would be a spectacular fish.

Then go with dojo loaches or C. barbatus. You don't want a fish that's
going to make you worry. Gold dojos are neat looking fish, and a big
school of cory cats is always fun. Cories are tough too, so if a goldie
tries to eat one, it will find the spines and think again.

pH 7 is fine for any Corydoras. Just take a couple of hours to
acclimate them if they're in different pH when you get them. Really,
take a couple hours to acclimate any new to your tankwater no matter
what. But you know that. ;-) You would only need to worry about
lowering the pH and softening the water to breed them.

hahaha!!!! spines.....i have a gold (Sparky) who is really stubborn....i
used to have a ceramic elbow hiding thing and he ALWAYS used to get
stuck.....During spawning the female shubunkin was smart and dashed through
the elbow, knowing Sparky would get stuck....
What men would do for love :-)
