2 questions.
Lost my 8+ year old when we moved, so now I have a new one in the
quarantine tank. He doesn't seem to be eating the pellet food I'm dropping.
I feed him at night, right at lights out, but it sure looks to me like the
food is still there. It's been a week, so if he isn't eating this will
resolve itself shortly.
Any alternative food suggestions?
Also, the Chain had him labeled "semi-aggressive." Has anybody here ever had
one get aggressive? If not, any idea what they are talking about? Mine
always hid during the day, popping out to eat. Never showed any interest in
the other fish at all.

I have a "spotted" Raphael and I've only seen it eat once or twice. Algae
tabs seemed to be its preferred food. Mine was a "proceed with caution"
fish too. To date it hasn't bothered any of my other fish. It spends most
of its time looking comotose in a corner of the tank behind a plant.

My Striped hides under a log during daylight hours. If his fin didn't stick
out every now and then and wiggle, I would have assumed him gone. I used to
see him come out for Algae chips, but I have not seen him eat in several
years.
I changed the decor in the tank, when I shook him out of a plastic cave, he
darted around like crazy until he found a new hiding place.
That was more action than I have seen in years. When he was young he used
to swim upside down at the surface to feed on Tetra Flakes. Not sure what
keeps him going now, must be vacuuming the bottom.

Yes, they're quite content to come out only at night. I give mine a cave, so
I never see him.
Thr old guy used to come out late in the evenings sometimes, right after I
fed him, but if anything in the room moved, he'd scurry back to his hole.
I never worried about the old guy eating, but this new guy is in the Q tank,
so I can see that his dinner is still lying on the bottom. I might try some
algae wafers I guess.
I messed with his cave yesterday during the weekly tank clean, and he seems
pretty lively, so that's a good sign.
I still wonder why they're considered semi-aggressive. I hesitated for a
moment to buy another one, even though I've had one of two (now 3, I guess)
in my tank with no problems over the past 20 years. Then I thought "Hey!"
