View Full Version : vertical dimension of the Eclipse 1?

Hi,

I just bought a 15 gallon high All-Glass aquarium (w/ standard 10 gal
footprint), and I'm thinking about getting the Eclipse 1 hood to go on
top of it. I've built a cabinet for it go to in, and need to know how
much vertical space the Eclipse needs above the tank. I have approx.
4.5" available, which is fine for a standard tank hood w/flo lighting,
but I don't know if the Eclipse will fit under there.

The cabinet top comes off, so maintaining the setup won't be a problem;
I just need to be sure that it'll fit under there when the top is on.
I suppose I could go to a store and measure it, but I thought someone
on the group would be able to wander over to his/her tank and just
measure it. (so I can order it online)

I have a limited amount of space behind the tank for hob filtration,
which is why I'm considering the Eclipse. Another thought was one (or
two) of those in-tank filters; I've seen that Whisper makes one, and
Duetto? Any comments on those? I'm also thinking about an UG w/
powerhead & reverse flow...I'm pretty good about vacuuming/water
changes. (I don't have any other tanks now, but have in the past).
Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help!

PS

I don't think an integrated hood will work for you, since you must lift the
hinged lid to feed or get into the tank, and that component includes the
lighting part integrated (and therefore cannot be removed) and requires
plenty of clearance.
