2 Micranthemum umbrosum

I have a emperor 280 filter, a CO2 instalation, a 20 W lamp on the hood
water tests yesterday: 7.2 pH, ammonia 3.7 ppm, Nitrate 2.25, Nitrite 0 ppm

I think that 20w over a 40 gallon might be too dim. Generally planted tanks
are run at 2wpg and higher. I would recommend adding another 2 or 3 20w
tubes. You can stagger the light cycles if you have timers, all 3 globes
don't have to come on at the same time. After you have added the light you
should begin to look at fertilisers. You can buy most ferts at your local
pharmacy. If you need help with a recipe let me know and I'll help you out.
Good luck.
