I just bought a bottle of Purpleup and was wondering if anyone else has
used this, It is a new product from Caribsea? It has only been out
for a little time and I could not find any info on it even from the
companys website www.carib-sea.com
Purpleup promotes the growth of Coraline Algae. It works as an
acceleratoer for coraline-so you must first have coraline it only
encourages the growth by two methods 1.Ionic Calcium 2. Delivers
calcium-strontium,magnesium and carbonate. My LFS claims that it is
new and he did not know much about it but a lot of his reef customers
has been grabing it off the shelves. My LFS say they have sold alot of
this. Anyone know I can find more info on it?

You don't really need this product. If you start dosing with Mag,
increase Calcium and decrease your light output a bit, you can thus
increase coraline growth.

If PH, Mag, Cal and Alk levels are right along with lighting yu'll
get coraline growth. NO need to add supplements like that......Don't
add anything you do not have a test kit for......It it does not list
all components of the supplement I usre am not going to use it since I
would not be able to test levels of what I was doseing......Really
there is very little in the way of supplements out there that are
needed, except mainly for calcium and a few trace, and even those
trace supps are not needed with water changes

II strted this post some time ago, I'm now on my second bottle. I
have most of my LR 70-80% covered with coralinef rom using Purpleup.
I recomend it.
If PH, Mag, Cal and Alk levels are right along with lighting yu'll
get coraline growth. TRUE BUT Purpleup promotes it
Really, give it a try you will be suprised. Takes about 3 months to
see the end results.
If you have 2 tanks use it just in one then compare the growth.

I just never had a need for it and my coraline does great.......I keep
a high cal and alk level mag and any other trace minerals is only
obtained from water changes and my coraline grows faster thanI really
want it to......I like some portions of the rock to be coraline free.
