I have gotten so sick of misplacing my fish nets, or the dog chewing the net part off. So I've decided to make my own with mosquito netting and heavy gauge wire and wooden dowels (or possibly metal if I can find them for cheap).
Does any one see a problem with this? Or like the idea?
I thought of this after I found my last net chewed, and the other one missing. Grrr. That dog can't keep his teeth off of anything!

Is the wire stainless steel? metals except for stainless are not a good idea
to put in a tank....
I hang my nets up by a suction cap hook think behind the tank....the bugger
never walks away then
What is it with nets dissapearing anyways.....the same thing with
pens......oh...and hair ties....

So what is going to prevent this dog from chewing up a home made net?
Nets are dirt cheap, and take up very little space, and only requires
a couple of seconds to put out of the reach of a dog.......I really
can;'t see where making your own nets is cost effective nor a solution
to your problem.

Nothing prevents the dog from chewing a home made net. Just its easier to replace because I will have the materials at hand.
Nets maybe cheap, but travel time to get them is a pain. I don't have a car, and if I want to go to a store to get more nets, it will take 2-3 hrs out of my day. Therefore, with the addition of time saved, making my net would be more cost effective than buying them.
And you've never met my dog. If he wants it, he will find a way. Or convince my 3yr old to get it for him...
Anemone, you are so right! pens and hairties and books that you were just reading 10 seconds ago, and the remote control....
What about plastic? As in all those stupid plastic hangers that you get cheap. The rounded shape, and they break into almost perfect handles... Just add net! (well, after cleaning and sterilizing!)
