does anyone have a recommendation for a reputable site? I bet this is asked
to death, but there are a bunch out there and I hate to get burned. I am
curious to check prices versus the couple of LFS in town.

www.bigals.com is where I buy most everything.

I just bought something from www.petsolutions.com because Big Al's didn't
have it. They seemed ok, plus they send me catalogs. And they had a $4.99
"all you can buy" shipping deal, but it's over now.

I've used thatfishplace.com. If it's in stock I normally get it in a
few days. And their prices are a lower than what I can get most stuff
locally, even after factoring in the shipping.

I've used both. No problems in either case. If it's something they
both carry, Big Al's is usually a little lower priced, but not always.
Both are usually much cheaper than our local PetCo or PetsMart, which in
turn are cheaper than the LFSs.

Boy, that's the truth, especially on big ticket items. I was looking to buy
a filter, and I would have saved about $50 by buying it on-line. It was over
$100 locally.

I second Aaron m. I prefer ordering online because the nearest lfs is a
half hour drive one way and the prices are better and gas prices here
are extraordinary, plus it's just plain safer (I tend to worry about
getting killed in a car wreck considering what has happened to friends
of mine in accidents thanks to this area having a really messed up
tourist situation with crazy california drivers, and the 10 million
dollar police force doesn't help in these cases, I don't have any kind
of transportation a lot of the time practically). People I know are
scared to drive around here. I did meet a cool woman on the bus that
had an empty 10 gallon tank (which the driver insisted she keep it on
the floor) with her from petland and we exchanged aquarium experiences
and information. Later all!

I'll second That Fish Place. I think they're actually thatpetplace.com
now. I used to road trip to the store when I lived on the East Coast
and I've been mail ordering for years from California. The prices are
great and they ship quickly.
