Shrimp question

Can a Blood Red Fire Shrimp live in a fish only tank with no live rock? I
would like to get one, but have never had a shrimp before.

If you provide a lot of hiding places AND if "fish only tank"
does not host any of natural shrimp predators (a lot of fish!)
I do not see any reason not to have it - it is beautiful animal.

When shrimp molts, its body is very soft and all fish would like to
snack on its legs or antennas... So they need a lot of hidding places.
I would get two - they will mate and produce planktonic larvae
every week... A nice food addition for your smaller fish.

There is a pair of clarkii clowns, a 6 lined wrasse, a clown goby and a
royal gramma in the tank. Would that be okay for it? I don't know if any
of these eat shrimp or not. Thanks.

stunning but are quite shy. Simple cleaner shrimp are alot bolder and come
out alot more.

Ive not got shrimp now as i have a scarlet hawkfish and im pretty sure that

Sounds like small fish... you should be fine.
Provide hiding places for the molting time when the shrimp
is softer than usual and every fish would like to snack on it.

Of course, having shrimps in the tank forces you to have cleaner
water than you can have for a regular "fish only" setup and no
cooper-based medications in case of ich: crustaceans do not tolerate cooper.

That would be fine. I have 2 True Perculas, a Yellow Tang, A Royal
Psuedochromis and the Blood Shrimp. They all do well together. Give the
shrimp lots of places to hide. Mine comes out at feeding time and I feed him
with an eye dropper. He loves it!

What an awesome animal the Blood Shrimp is. I was thinking of adding a
second but I read that they can get testy about territory and not get along.
I have 100 lbs of rock in the tank so I think they could each find their
spots.

You should not worry about this. I have 2 blood shrimps, 2 skunk cleaners
and 3 peppermints in a 30 gallons tank. They all fare well together
with some occasional but quite harmless "arguments" at the beginning...
After a couple of weeks they all found their place in the tank and
within the hierarchy of shrimps: extra-species fights are almost nonexisting.

What is it that you feed him with an eye dropper? I was under the
impression that they were scavengers and would eat off the bottom of the
tank. He arrived today and he is beautiful. I really like him. He looks
like he wants to be a boxer though.

I feed him frozen Brine Shrimp from the dropper. He'll climb right up my
arm. It's very cool when the fish present themselves and the shrimp cleans
them. Very interesting and fun to watch. You'll love having him in your
tank. I absolutely love mine. Best of luck with him.

Scavengers mean "carrion-eaters", not "gunk/silt eaters"... ;-)

It needs to eat meaty food items, what fish could not catch.
Don't starve it - if your fish eat everything you give them
and nothing is left for bottom feeders than you need to feed
some more for shrimps... Make sure it sinks fast.

I have tested the sinking pellets called "crab cusine" with
good results: http://www.hikariusa.com/crab_cuisine.htm
This is dedicated diet composition for crustaceans like shrimps.
My larger shrimps will have a pellet per bite, I feed about
2-3 pellets per shrimp 3-4 times a week - smaller ones will
munch one piece as their whole meal... hiding from competition
of other shrimps. They are huge fun to watch. Enjoy!

setup my autotopup system yet though.. ive got one, they dont like SG
changes do they

Anyways my question is will a scarlet hawk fish live happily with a shrimp?

I do not have auto-topup myself and they are quite happy.
