Help--
Setting up 75 Gal Reef Tank for first time. When noticed that
temperature was not changing after adding heater, I realized that there
was a chip in the thermometer. It's a red-dye in-tank thermometer. Do
I need to start from beginning? From what I've read--it's only alcohol
and red dye. Have only added live sand, and salt-water. Was planning
on adding live-rock tomorrow for 8 week cycle.
Any advice?
Thanks,

it should not be a problem at all. The only suggestion I would have
would be to do a water change and put some carbon on the tank to help
remove the dye, the alcohol will not hurt anything.

Let me tell you this way - one of my fish broke my glass thermometer
in 30g tank. Smacked it onto the glass wall with the tail...
It was not a small crack - it was completelly crushed and
fall into the sand the way I could not find all the glass pieces or
the metal weights dipped in the red wax (from inside thermometer).
I siphoned out the sand from the corner thermometer fall I had
no bad symptoms suggesting any poisoning... You will be good.
p.s.
I learned not to use glass thermometers.
I use electronic ones with plastic probes...
