View Full Version : Red Sea's "Marine Success Buff" requires very small doses?

I just bought Red Sea's "Marine Success Buff" for my 40 gal reef tank
(it was what was available at a local store).

Looking at the dosage directions, it says at 5ml per 60 gallons (240
liters) per *week*. For my 40 gal tank, that would translate to about
1.1 ml per day. Ie. just a few drops.

Doesn't that seem like an awfully small amount? I remember using Kent's
Pro DKh (or some name like that) and it was more like a few ml per day.

1.1 ml is a lot more than just a few drops, I would have to look up the
conversion factors but I would be willing to bet it is close to a
teaspoon full a day.

You lose. It's a bit less than a quarter teaspoon.

You too. 1 teaspoon is 5 ml.

That makes it about a fifth teaspoon.

Which makes 1.1 ml a bit less than 1/4 teaspoon. As I said.

i would imagine that even though 1.1ml is indeed just smaller than 1.25ml
which is 1/4 teaspoon who on earth is going to be able to measure that by eye
in a teaspoon...

Surely the best way to measure that would be to use one of those small
syringes like the ones that come with the Salifert test kits.

silly thread and right off the point im guessing
