View Full Version : need to kill flatworms?

I discovered that I have flatworms in my tank:

I have several pieces of coral. Are these types of flatworms harmful
to reefs? I have gotten conflicting advice. The guy at my local
marine store said they are harmful to reefs and suggested that I use
flatworm exit. I am reluctant to use such a product in my tank.

Several other people said that they are not harmful:

Has anyone had these types of flatworms with a reef. Is so what did
you do?

Thanks

These little guys are harmless so leave them alone. The ones you have to
worry about are brownish and only if they have a population explosion
brought on by poor water quality.

I was thinking of the immortal words of Socrates who once said, "I drank
what?".

Correct. If you have 'red planaria' then you need to treat
your tank with a product called Flatworm eXit by Salifert.
