View Full Version : Tang and Clown
Adam
September 10th 03, 02:04 PM
Well I moved the Yellow Striped Maroon Clowns to the same tank. I guess the
one I have had the longest was only about a third of the size of the new one
I bought. I made the move because the new Tang had the old Clown scared to
death. The Clowns have been together for about an hour now and seem to be
inseparable. The small one does the quiver thing when the large on nudges
it. That's a good sign isn't it? Also the fact that neither have been
shredded yet is probably good too. How long do I need to watch them like a
hawk before I can rest easy that they are going to be ok? What's my next
step? Thanks for the help folks.

Hi Marc,
Adam is a throw back from an old BBS screen name (It was called The Garden
of Eden, I was the Sysop <system operator>). I just never gave it up (the
screen name) and am still called Adam by some of the past members. My real
name is Edward Smith.
The YSMClowns Are still getting alone fine. They prod each other and the
small one still quivers when it gets prodded but there are no bite marks and
no missing fin pieces. It looks like they may be alright unless something
drastically changes in the next couple days. I hope not because I might
want to try to get a few more the cheap way. So here is the next question.
Who can tell me or direct me to information on how to go about this. Things
like conditions, light cycles, any other requirements. My LFS also said I
can get store credit for anything I have extra or decide to get rid of. It
would be great to have a way to pay for a little bit of this obsession...er
ah hobby.
Thanks for the help, Marc and all the rest of you.

Hey, I was a SysOp for a decade, when I ran The Kingdom BBS on the old Atari
1040 ST and later Mega STe. I went by Pioneer in those days...
Raising clownfish isn't as easy as you might hope. There is a good book by
Joyce Wilkerson on Clownfish and it will give you all the info you need to
know. You can also peruse the Clownfish & Anemone forum on RC, and abuse the
Search engine over there for tons of posts on this topic.
However, don't hope to make a nickel off the fry. It will cost you more than
not to try it, but just for the satisfaction of raising baby clowns, I'd do it.

there are forums and one is anemones and clownfish, another is breeding both have tons of
clown stuff, the breeding isnt as active but gears towards all breeding activities.

free.

Don't know nothin about clowns, but I ran a Wildcat system for years, then
PowerBBS into the early/mid 90's. Then I became an ISP with over 400 phone
lines.

Your ISP should have some space for you. If not enough, you can have your
webserver and host your stuff from your PC. A few webserver come to mind
are: Apache, IIS, MiniWeb and few other you can try.
Wildcat, WWIV, PowerBBS, SearchLightBBS and many other I have tried. The
trend now is running your own Webserver and have a forum like RC.
