Hello,

I have a new 30 gallon tank tank with 8 or so plants and 18 fish. I know
the norm for lighting is 8 to 12 hours, however can that be exceeded? My
tank is in my basement where the is NO natural lighting. Can I increase my
lighting to 13 or 14 hours or am I asking for trouble.

Thx :)

Probably asking for a bit more algae. I've seen people post about
lighting hours around here and beyond 12 hours they don't see improved
plant growth but more algae. Seems like algae can use as much light as
you give it, but plants can only use 12 hours or so. However, you won't
hurt anything by trying it out.
