Hi there

I think my Tridacna crocea clam might be dying but im not sure. Over the
last 3 weeks it has gotten more and more pale. From being dark purple to now
almost white. I first tryet moving it higher in the tank but nothing
happend. I have now placed it high in the tank and in some more current to
see if that helps. I have 2 other crocea clams which where at the same place
as the ill one in the tank(they where all on the bottom at the front of the
tank). I dont feed them anything and they had all 3 been doing fine until
now.... It still opens and closes up when a fish come near or if i move it.
It also closes up at night and opens up again the next morning - just like
the 2 others which are fine....

What can i do/what is wrong ???

we need details on your tank, you tell nothing about water conditions,
lighting, etc.....etc...etc...

1st make sure you have a strong light. Metal hilide is the best. Vho
will not do it.

2nd place it as hi as you can in the tank.

We need more detail about the quality of the water. Do you add micro
algae to the tank? They also need to eat. ell me more details.

They need metal halide. Regular 10,000K will not do it even if you have
four of them.

Rugburns, HQI are MH lights, that is a common name for double ended bulbs.

as for the clam i have no idea, your water conditions seam up to par and
lighting is good depending on how far the clam is away from the light.

how far is it?

I have tried placing it higher in the tank - no result, it actually crawled
down to the bottom substrate again !!

I do not add micro algae to the tank - Should i ??? If need any more water
param. just tell me and i will mesure it for you :-D

Thanks so much in advance......
