What about reattaching it? Either to a rock or elsewhere on the glass? How
do I do that? I like the idea of a "carpet" of Xenia on the back wall but
mine just seems to climb straight up the glass.

use a rubberband or fishing line to tie it to a rock it will reattatch
in a few days

You can also mount it using super glue. This has the added benefit of
sealing the exposed tissue underneath to help prevent infection.

Use a razor blade. They are sturdy soft corals. Believe me, it will
spread like wild fire. Even if you cut it in half, both halves will
attach somewhere and grow again with proper light and water conditions.
