Hau kolas..I'm looking for info on how to properly propagate this plant..got some basic questions but am having a hard time finding a website etc that really provides quality info. any recommendations? I've got a plant that has sent up the stalk that I've heard others here talking of, but now what? Does this sprout the "baby plants" or is a flowering device? It wants to grow out of the water and the top of this stalk be emersed..should I allow it to be or try to keep it in the water? And so forth. :) TIA

I am not sure exactly what type of Amazon Sword you have, but basically you are right-- the stalk that it sent up will sprout new plants and they will grow over the course of about 3 to 6 weeks. Many times, there will be two plants on the stalk very close together, which you can separate (or not) and plant, getting a very nice yield. Basically, when the plants get three or four inches in height and begin to grow roots an inch or so in length, I'd cut them off of their stalk, then plant them. Flourite works out very well for Swords.
